You may have heard others say this is unlike any feder on the market, and it’s true. This sword has “zero flop”, but is flexible when it’s thrust. It is light and feels even lighter than it weighs, but it is as strong as a heavy feder. This combination is a consequence of more historically accurate blade geometry, and is difficult to believe without experiencing it—we urge you to take any opportunity you can to try this sword.
Our goal for The Standard is the same as a Renaissance sword maker producing a fechtschwert – to produce the best possible tool for competitive fencing. We’ve examined historical examples to learn their secrets, analyzed sword geometry using modern physics and math, and combined these with precision machining to bring you a sword that is safe in the thrust, and strong in the bind.
As we make improvements to our swords, there may be some differences between the product you receive and the ones in our photos. Our newest blades come with a mass reduction hole in the tip, which may be used in the future for tip attachments. They also feature a single chamfered edge on the crossguard, which is thicker than our earliest iterations.
This feder is completely disassembleable and serviceable (6mm hex key, not included), and is covered by our 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects. We have a video guide for assembly.
